It is with sadness that the directors of Zero Seal Systems have to announce the death of their friend and colleague, Rod Lovatt. He passed away on 3rd February after spending two weeks in hospital with Covid-19.
Rod was a respected figure in the architectural ironmongery industry and well known to many. Originally working for James Gibbons in Wolverhampton, Rod moved to K.S. Neale in Erdington and then Cambridge before becoming Managing Director of Laidlaw & Thomson East Anglia in the early 1980’s. During the 1990’s he sat on the Board of Thomas Laidlaw Architectural Hardware Division.
In 1997 he was a founding director of Zero Seal Systems in Stafford and helped establish the company in the UK. As Technical Director, he continued to help the company grow over the last 23 years bringing his knowledge of acoustic and fire testing to the fore. He was always ready to help and will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues at Zero. He will also be known to many because of his involvement with product training and education, giving back to the industry he loved over so many years.
His funeral will be on 9th March but will be limited to immediate family only due to the current restrictions. Those who knew him are invited to raise a glass to his memory on that day. Our thoughts are with Rod’s family at the present time.
